Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

NOTE: Event dates have changed to 22/9/22 - 02/10/22 due to COVID

Hello all,

In November 2017, our family was hit with the news we feared. Our Dad/Husband/Brother/Uncle was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Dad battled so bravely against this truly terrible disease, and we sadly lost him on Friday, 22nd March 2019.

MND is a devastating, incurable condition - nerves that carry electrical signals from the brain to the muscles slowly die. For Dad it meant going from an active, fit and healthy person, to not being able to even do the simplest of tasks, move without help, and eventually even being unable to speak.

Anyone who knew Dad would know just how kind he was. He was always so positive, always smiling and spread so much joy to others. Even after his diagnosis, Dad was never angry about his condition and still remained optimistic. Although the disease took away a lot from Dad, it never took away his infectious smile.

Dad always loved a challenge and always kept himself fit through running marathons and cycling. That's why we have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, to help raise money for the MND Association.

The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to improve care and support for people affected by MND. Hopefully one day we will be able to defeat MND, and any amount donated will help towards research, and also supporting families affected by this cruel disease.

We would be extremely grateful for any fundraising support.

Many thanks,

Punit and the Mistry family.
