Story

Earlier this year, we were rocked by the loss of our amazing friend and colleague, Mike. He had been struggling with his mental health, which led him to take his own life in March.

Mike was one of the most genuine friends I knew. He was always the first to offer help, advice, time - even when he was incredibly busy. He was passionate in his work as a Physio and was constantly going the extra mile to make a real difference in his patients' lives. He was, and still is, an inspiration to me. I am honoured to have known such a wonderful person, and to be involved in keeping his memory alive, although I am heartbroken that it is necessary.

This is part of our way of paying tribute to Mike, in a way that reflects the person that he was - volunteering time and expertise so that those who may not always be in a position to come in and see us in clinic, have that opportunity, and raising money for an appropriate charity. Whilst is doesn't come close to filling the hole we all feel, we hope that it will be part of a healing process for us as a team.

- Jen Touzel, PSM Physiotherapist, on behalf of all Pure Sports Medicine.

At our Bank Clinic we are hosting the following events in honor of Mike:

Friday, 11th October: 24 Hour Watt Bike Ride

The aim is to complete 800 miles in 24 hours. Cyrielle Marteau & Dean Sutton will be leading the way by completing 24 hours on the Watt Bike.

They will have a third bike available where both the Pure team members, patients and volunteers will be riding alongside the pair to achieve the 800 miles. If you would like to join Dean and Cyrielle to cycle for any length of time, please Dean Sutton at: dean.sutton@puresportsmed.com.

Saturday, 12th October: Open Clinic (donations for appointments)

Clinicians from across Pure Sports Medicine are donating their time to treat patients at the clinic for a donation to charity. Patients are asked to pay whatever they feel is right.

Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Strength & Conditioning and Pilates appointments will all be available. To book an appointment, please contact reception at reception.bank@puresportsmed.com.

Proceeds for all events will be going to CALM Charity (Campaign Against Living Miserably). To donate, please click the 'Donate' button.
