Story
I feel really sorry for my Auntie Bekky because she has had quite severe M.E for over a year now, so when I found a Charity badge in my Brownie badge book I thought it would be a really good idea choose M.E as my charity. Auntie Bekky's life in now really dull, I hardly ever see her now and when I do she is just lying down in bed. Sometimes she feels so weak she can't even go to get a shower for M.E makes you feel achy if you do to much, and even a shower can be exhausting.
M.E stands for Myalgic Encephalomyetitie and women are more likely to get it than men. It stops your body making energy, it is like a battery being low so you can only do a very limited amount of things with it. Most patients with M.E struggle to work, Auntie Bekky can't work at all. Lights, loud noises and movements can be too much to handle.
Before Auntie Bekky had M.E she was funny, bananas and always active. When she came around to see us she always did fun activities with us that involved us being crazy. Whenever she went on holidays with us she always made them the best by entertaining us every second of it. The game the she and I were best at was hide and seek because she knew all the best places to hide.
My wonderful friend Alice has agreed to do this with me (she was looking at the Brownie Charity Badge too). We are walking in our pyjamas because people with severe M.E are almost always in there pyjamas. We hope the money we raise will help scientists to find a cure for M.E.
