Story
Hello Everyone.
In 2007 I did gym rehab following a serious knee reconstruction at my local YMCA. The facilities there really helped me to get my life & fitness back. In return, last year I raised over £500 for the YMCA "Yippee Project" by completing the Redhill to Brussels Cycle Challenge. I'm much fitter now & just as well. This years challenge is a lot more demanding!
We are cycling from Redhill to Montpellier. Red2Med. This will take in around 700 miles over 9 days. Our itinery is for approx 70-80 miles per day in blistering summer heat, with our accommodation being a mixture of small hotels & camping. Our route takes us down through the centre of France, through the Massif Central & I am informed that the roads are "very hilly" during the 2nd half of the journey.
I've always wanted to do this in the back of my mind, but never had the opportunity. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun, & lot's of pain. There are no illusions, it will be a tough ride, but I am training really hard for this, & there will be no shortage of commitment on my part.
In return, once again I am seeking to raise some funds. Our charity this year is "HEADS TOGETHER".
This is a free local counselling service for young people struggling to cope through emotional crisis. Whether bullying at school, losing a parent, being a victim of crime, drug & alcohol problems, ill health, pressure of modern life, relationshiops, struggling at school, etc. Heads Together has provided 20 counsellors for 12 years now, who provide support & a shoulder to lean on. It's not easy being young today. The service needs to raise an additional £25,000p to help cover project costs.
It is a very worthy cause. I hope you are able to help in a small way, by kindly sponsoring me for this event. Lot's of small donations make a big difference! Much appreciated in advance.
Alan.
