Story
Water is the basis of life - in fact when we are looking for life outside of Earth the very first thing we look for is the presence of water. For us we don't think about it - it's a matter of turning on the tap to drink or even do wudu. Yet diseases from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. The Islamic society at QE want to raise money to build wells to empower impoverished communities with water which will be a stepping stone out of poverty as life becomes safer for women, children can be educated and farmers can use the water to irrigate their crops.
The lack of water is a tragedy. But last month, Muslims around the world felt another tradegy in the Christchurch mosque shootings that took the lives of 51 individuals who were praying their Jummah. The status of these martyrs is one of the highest, and providing water, a form of sadqah jariah, is one of the most noble acts of charity. We at the QE isoc want to honour those who died by raising money in one of the victims names to build a well to be a legacy of good deeds for that individual - so that they can continue earning barakah by preventing the suffering of those with little access to water. Please continue the legacy of good of one the martyrs by funding the building of a well that will provide benefit for many individuals.
