We are a mental health and well-being support organisation for black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker and refugee women and girls. We promote well-being by combating effects of discrimination, abuse, reducing the stigma of mental health, and improving access to mainstream services and education.

Story

ISSUE 149

Issue 149 is the new charity summer e-issue by qmunicate, the official magazine of Queen Margaret Union at Glasgow University. It was created in collaboration with Saheliya, a specialist mental health organisation for black, minority ethnic, refugee and asylum seeking women (12+) in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

All funds raised will go towards Saheliya's Young Saheliya, a specialist service that works with girls and young women aged between 12-25 years. For more info on their amazing work, head to our interview with them here.

Our issue is a collaborative work of student journalism including a selection of articles from all of our sections: Features, Lifestyle, News and Politics, Arts and Culture, Film, and Music. Additionally, it features a series of creative writing pieces from qmunicate’s latest anthology following the theme of the power of being alone. It also contains a number of visual submissions from local and international artists and photographers.
