Story

I will be Cycling 100 Miles From Carlisle To Edinburgh Through The Night on 22nd June,  in Memory Of My Friend Tony Hopper.. Please Read On.

On 9th October 2018 all our worlds changed forever. Tony Hopper aged 42 died of Motor Neurone disease. He left behind three extremely boisterous boys (aged 5,9,11) for Sue (his wife) to try and keep on the straight and narrow

Tony was a very loved Son, Uncle, Brother Friend amongst many other titles, but above all else he was a very special, loving and warm person. He was a true friend and in return had many true friends who nursed him in his hours of need.

There are few people who make an impact like Tony did in his short life and anyone who knew him, was proud to know him.

Tony was extremely reluctant to go into any care establishment during his illness as he wanted to be at home with his family, however the hospice is somewhere that we could all be together and he could have the care he needed. Tony had two admissions, one for symptom control in August 2017 and then when he was reaching the final stage of his Illness.
Tony’s symptoms were complex and I genuinely don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t have this service locally. I speak for all his family and friends when I say that we will be forever grateful for how they treated Tony and everyone around him in his final weeks.

it was Tony’s wish that any fundraising that we do in his name would be was aimed at Eden Valley Hospice. This is one way that we, as a community can ensure that this service can help others in need.
Motor neurone is cruel disease, there are not many places that can deal with the complex care that is required, we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. Please donate as every donation matters so supporting us even in a small way will make a huge difference.

Many Thanks In Advance
