Story
In July 2020, during the midst of the Covid pandemic, we lost Tina Hankinson to cancer. Our mum was a wonderfully kindhearted, selfless and empowered lady who always urged us to give it a go and do our best as "your best is all you can do".
Hospital visits were not possible during much of her illness but the nurses from Macmillan were able to provide support and comfort to her and our family during this difficult time. Our family gives special thanks to the Macmillan team at Wythenshaw Hospital who, despite all the Covid pressures, battled on to make such differences to people's lives.
Current pressures on healthcare now meen that people may not get the diagnoses and treatment that they need in time. This piles pressure on those, like Macmillan, providing the supportive networks.
On the 10th September I am therefore joining the London Landmarks Challenge to raise awareness and funds for Macmillan Cancer Support to help them in a small way continue their much needed support.
The event is a "run up" the 42 floors of the "Cheesegrater" skyscraper followed by a 200m abseil down the vertical face.. I shall do my best..
It is understandably a tough time for charities to raise money given the increases in the cost of living. Anything, no matter how small, you could contribute to support this cause would be very much appreciated indeed and help provide comfort to those in their darkest of times.
Thank you.
