Story

Thank you for looking at my JustGiving page ….Hello and Welcome .....

There are many reasons for me to be doing this challenge; personal health, a sense of achievement and to give something back to this country of ours. These thoughts came about by the way of the process of continuous improvements that been taking place within Cogent Technology where I work. The team looked at how we all could improve and give more value to our services , its worked so well I have applied the same logic into my personal life. I have become more lean and productive to society by losing 3 stone so far and giving something back by taking part in this cycle challenge.

My charity and why - There are many diseases that can strike down mankind, when this happens to a loved one, families console each other through the art of conversation with loving words which seem to bring some inner peace to both sides, in being able to talk around the dark days ahead and what the future holds for all going forward.

However, with dementia this element is stolen from families, therefore the sharing the emotion of the illness with your loved one is not possible. As a result of this the impact on the carer themselves is profound and can be so hard hitting.

My Mother in-law has dementia so I am acutely aware of the impact this has on close family. It is with this in mind, that I look to help families by raising monies in support of running the new day room at West Suffolk Hospital, Ward G4, which opened in Sept 2014. This day room is offering comfort, away from the traditional wards, for families to come to terms with this dreadful disease and its impact on normal family life.

“For the person they have lost and the loved one they care for. “
