I am running 50k in ONE GO to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
The cause has become dear to me after my friend Amani was diagnosed with a tumour called Glioblastoma Multiforme, Grade 4 (GBM4), H3K27 mutation in April 2020, on her 22nd birthday.
Amani is a close friend from high school and a neighbour. Anyone who knows of Amani can confirm she is one of the most purest souls. Whoever has had the privilege of meeting Amani can without a doubt admit that her humorous and bubbly character is most definitely one of a kind. I can’t stress how important it is to help build awareness for the brain tumour research campaign, funding is needed to help find a cure.
Brain tumours are killing more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Unfortunately, only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to brain tumour research.
Hearing how underfunded research and development is for this disease I wanted to do something to help raise money and awareness.
I wanted to do something for Amani and others who are also suffering to provide them with some hope through raising funds for the research and developments for this charity.
