We‘re all racing together to help the fight against dementia! Each of us has a personal story that made us want to take part in this awesome event, what follows is a summary from each of us:

Anna: It is hard to express in words what an awful disease dementia is. My grandfather passed away from early-onset Alzheimer's and it was so hard to watch how it impacted him personally, my grandmother as his caregiver, and the rest of our family. We need to fund innovative research to find a cure for all forms of dementia, otherwise one in three people alive today will die with this condition. That's why we are participating in Theamusante's 12H Race Against Dementia!

Tom: I've wanted to do a charity event against dementia for a while, since I saw how this awful condition affected one of my closest friends. Her mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimers a few years back, and was unable to get care in the UK due to her immigration status. This means she is unfortunately now hundreds of miles away from her daughter in a care home in a different country, and it's been heart wrenching to watch my friend go through all this. If I can raise money by making an idiot of myself live on Twitch, I'll sure as hell do that.

Kavey: I have family members who have had dementia, it is an awful condition to live with, both for those with the condition and those close to them. Dementia research is still underfunded, considering how many people are affected by the condition. With better funding the causes of dementia can be better understood and more treatments, and hopefully cures, can be found. The money we raise will help that goal.
