We connect, change and support minds to live with and recover from mental health

Story

Hi and thank you for heading to my just giving page to donate money to a great cause of Dorset mind. Mental health is previlant in most peoples lives in one way or another . Personal experience or family members suffering . Breaking the stigma around asking for help still needs to be done and theres lots more hard work to be done. Mental health issues can come in many forms .

I have personal experience with  myself and family members. My personal experience resulted in me becoming heavily addict to alcohol and drugs. This is a form of escapism removing yourself from the anxietys and stresses from dealing with everyday life  this lasted for 15 years losing contact with family , money a place to call home my dignity and much more . In 2014 I finally succcumend and asked for help it was the best decision I have ever made. During my 15 years I always thought it was only me that was going through this but my eyes were opened to many others going through the same issues I was.

Through councilling and a program I'm now free of the addictions and able to live a very happy life but still to this day my mind can tell me otherwise . Now I have an understanding and I can not put myself back into my old mindset .

I found a new love in the outdoors in 2015 and a passion for all things kayaking . Possibly another addiction :) I now promote the outdoors and the benefits to an individuals mental wellbeing . I have started a business H2oadventures in Swanage teaching people to sea kayak and offer sessions in swanage Bay and along the Jurassic coast.

This is how our challenge was created with myself H2oadventures and a fellow outdoor company Jurassic watersports have challenged each other to race the length of the Jurassic coast from on end to the other . Each team starting at opposite ends . 96 miles in total between orcombe point in East Devon and Studland bay in Dorset.  we plan to attempt this in 2 days (30th nov-1 Dec . Our challenge will be captured on film and social media so you can follow our event from the cockpit of the kayaks .  Follow  both teams and watch to see who is crown the winner. The losing team will donate £100 to the others charity.

Follow my facebook page, Instagram and twitter for regular updates and how my training in going . We only have 1 month to prepare for this epic adventure.
