2013 Megavalanche Challenge!

Last year Pete Baldwin and Alex Martin-Verdinos raced in the Megavalance in Alpe d'huez, France in support of the British Heart Foundation.  A big thank you to all who contributed with kinds words and generous donations.  It was such a success that.. guess what ?  ... We are doing it again!

But this time we will be entering the race in Aid of the visionary charity Fighting leukaemia AND with three more members in our team.  This year our five man crew are Pete, Previn, Krishna, Robert and Alex. Our mission for 2013 is to complete the race (in one peace hopefully) and in turn raise more funds for charity than in 2012.

The Cause
Fighting leukaemia is a growing charity headed by a small group of members whose aim is to address all aspect of leukaemia and it's impact. It's beneficiaries include Leukaemia Research and Great Ormand St Hospital.  Each year it helps fund a trip to Euro disney for several families living in the shadow of leukaemia, so they can enjoy some time together and build good memories.  More recently the charity has funded Specialist nurses from Britain to travel to Chenobel in order to provide training in chemotherapy to local medical workers who are still dealing with the fallout from the meltdown that took place in the 80s.  This education will triple the amount of patients that can be treated.

I am pleased to say that I can be totally sure that all donations will be greatly appreciated, spent very wisely and have great impact on people's lives.

THE RACE

Approximately 30km distance, almost 2500m descent, crossing glacier, boulder fields and through forest. 2000 participants compete to be the fastest to the bottom.
