Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
We've had the pleasure of working alongside Daisys mum Justine in the health visiting team in Towcester for the past 5 years. We would often share stories about our children and give advise and support to each other . Justine started to get worried about her daughter at the start of the summer 2017 when daisy started complaining of back ache .... this is Daisys story......
Life for Daisy was going full steam ahead , she had just turned 21 and was about to return to uni for her final year with her degree in teacher training, she had holidays planned and was enjoying the summer.
During the summer of 2017 Daisy started to get back pains which were getting worse, after several scans on her back Daisy was faced with her worst nightmare and in August was diagnosed with stage 4 " alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma" a rare tissue cancer that makes up only 1% of all adult cancers. Daisy was admitted to Leicester hospital, ward 27 where her treatment of 9 cycles of chemotherapy was to begin as well as other procedures/operations to give Daisy the best chance of having children once she's kicked cancers butt. Daisy is currently on cycle 8 ( Feb 18), she has lost all her hair and been through the worst days imaginable . The last 6 months have been spent in hospital with one or two days of making it home only to be rushed back in again, the last month or two has been better with daisy spending longer periods at home between cycles. There is still a long way to go with treatment and physio needed, however Daisy is a very strong willed young lady and has shown such strength and such a positive outlook that she is fighting back and not letting cancer take control.
Since August Daisy has had such a positive outlook on life and still smiles even on the roughest days, her sense of humour has kept her going and keeps others smiling looking in, if we smile so does Daisy. The positive mental attitude has been helped along by the teenage cancer trust, offering support to Daisy and family members, making the ward feel like a second home which is vital for treatment and recovery. Daisy and her family cannot praise the charity and staff enough and would struggle without all their support. The charity depends upon donations alone and without such generous people such as yourselves the charity would not survive.
So... the health visiting team in Towcester decided to take on a challenge to help raise vital funds, we decided upon the 25km walk across the countryside starting in Richmond London. We have lots of hard work ahead but nothing in comparison to what Daisy deals with on a daily basis, help team oopsy Daisy to dig deep and complete the challenge by digging deep in your pockets ( every penny counts ). Daisy is an inspiration to us all so if Daisy can, we can.
Thank you so much for your donations and support xx
