As you may or may not know, in 2019  I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. Apart from being huge shock it also meant I very suddenly had a million questions spinning around in my head about what was to come. My oncologist was there to answer any questions I had regarding treatment etc from a medical point of view but there were so many other questions I had that I either didn’t want to ask or wanted to know from someone who had actually been through the same. So after some searching online I came across Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, they have a wealth of support available for anyone diagnosed with cervical cancer and they also have an amazing forum where people post questions and answers based on their own experiences. I could search the forum for the random questions that came into my head and get various responses from real life experiences which was a huge help while going through treatment. 

Thankfully I have recovered and since doing so I have been looking for ways to give back to the charity that helped me when I needed it. So when my sister came across this challenge to cycle from London to Amsterdam to raise money for Jo’s Trust along with Ovarian Cancer Action and Breast Cancer Now we roped in our mum and before we knew it we were signed up! For anyone that knows me I’m not known for being athletic and I’ve had more than my fair share of cycling accidents so there’s no doubt this will be a challenge!!

Due to COVID impacting almost everything this year, charities are missing out on a significant amount of funds as they have been unable to fund raise as normal. It now feels more important than ever to help support them, so they can continue being there for people when needed, like they were for me.
