Rachael's Bungee Jump!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son, Jake was born with a haemangioma (strawberry birthmark) on his nose and that was our first experience of what it is like to live with a facial disfigurement. And it didn't bother me or (for the most part) Jake in the slightest. From people staring at him on the bus or in the street, to rude comments and some outright nastiness, Jake sailed through life with a sense of humour and huge confidence - he didn't bat an eyelid.
Time marched on and we had some awful experiences. From uninformed and tactless comments to recovering from the psychological trauma of operations. And we had no idea of the support available outside of our annual hospital consultation.
As it turns out, Jake is built from strong stuff and has taken everything in his mighty stride. I would not change a thing about him or our experiences - particularly watching him grow and be proud of who he is which in turn, is a source of great pride for me. But I do have a better understanding of how people who look different feel and I'm 100% in favour of the work Changing Faces does to support them and educate others.
And that is why I've decided to bungee jump off a building.
