Story
I am not your typical runner. I frequently faked notes at school to get out of cross country (there’s only so many times I could have ‘broken my toe’!) and I was never one of the ‘sporty girls’.
However, after reading Bryony Gordon’s Eat Drink Run, I decided to give running a go to help clear my head, and though part of me was adamant I would be useless, it helped, even just a little. So I carried on trying to get out and run, I knew I was slow, but I always felt better after.
I have always loved a challenge so thought I’d apply for the marathon and I have chosen to run for Mind because I want to fundraise for the vital work that they do to increase awareness and support for mental health. I want to be part of the movement speaking up about mental health and helping make sure everyone can access fair treatment. I am so proud to attempt my first marathon for Mind and hope this helps others to know they are not alone and more people can access the right help for their mental health sooner.
