Three Peaks Challenge Rope Climb · 6 December 2021
Sophie and George are climbing the height of the mountains in the Three Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis, Scotland 1,345m; Scafell Pike, England 978m; Snowden Wales, 1,085m), a total of 3,408m. For those of you in New Zealand, this is nearly the height of Mount Cook! They are doing this by rope climbing in the gym during the week 6th -12th December, which comes to 852 rope climbs!
Rugby Gymnastics Club is on the cusp of starting building work for it's long awaited new gym, and the funds raised by this event will go towards equipment for the pit gym, where the squad gymnasts train.
Sophie and George are currently training for 19 hours and 9 hours per week respectively, and we are so proud of all the hard work and perseverance they put in. Leading up to recent competitions, their coaches have had to arrange visits to other gyms in order to train, as Rugby don't have all the equipment they need. The new gym and equipment will make a HUGE difference to these young gymnasts and their coaches. Thank you so much for any contribution you can make!
