Story
My beautiful sixteen year old sister, Linzi, was healthy one day and diagnosed with Leukaemia the next. It was that sudden, there is no explanation or reason behind the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. As a family we were all in shock. Linzi faced her treatment plan with strength, bravery and dignity beyond her years. She remained positive and determined to beat ALL. After 21 days of intense treatment Linzi suffered a major blood clot to the brain; Linzi died three days later. While Linzi was receiving treatment she signed up to the Research Project in the hope that one day we can understand the causes of leukaemia and prevent families loosing loved ones. Mum and I are participating in the Slieve Donard Moonlit Trek in memory of our Purple Princess - Linzi - and to raise awareness of the importance of research organisations such as Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI.
