London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
I'm fundraising for Survivors Manchester in an effort to highlight the work they do in an area where most services are geared towards female victims of rape and sexual violence. Male victims have different experiences, concerns and needs going forward so services like this one are vital. GMP investigated 210 allegations of sexual assault where the victim was male in 2017, a 59% increase on cases the previous year. Victim numbers are increasing and if my dragging myself round a marathon course can provide something towards just one person's recovery - it's totally worth it.
Opening the doors in 2009, Survivors Manchester provides therapeutic and ISVA support to male victims/survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation across Greater Manchester. Our mission is to break the silence on the sexual violation of boys and men, in order for individuals to begin to understand the impact of these experiences on their current life by working through difficulties and challenges that will enable them to move forward to be free of the past.We are a male survivor-led organisation providing quality assured help.
