LCM's Big Winter Sleepout 23 · 11 March 2023 ·
With the cost of living crisis, hundreds of people are becoming homeless this winter, rough sleepers in London are up by 25% already. Everyday, someone will be sleeping on the streets for the first time - this is tragic.
Most people end up sleeping rough as a result of unemployment or relationship breakdowns, addiction often follows. The average lifespan for someone sleeping rough is just 47 and one in ten rough sleepers have been urinated in by a member of the public, many die from suicide.
I’ve got to know a few rough sleepers on my commute but I know, despite the odd burger and being a friendly face, I can’t give them the help they really need. I’ve got to know the LCM ministry at Webber Street and seen them help many people encounter God’s love and take steps out of homelessness, building up their shattered lives. That’s why this Saturday, I’m sleeping in a park in Waterloo as part of their Big Winter Sleepout to raise vital funds for people who are homeless.
Any sponsorship you give will be incredibly appreciated and help provide guests at LCM’s Webber Street day centre for people who are homeless with hot food, clean clothes, help with finding accommodation, a listening ear and a chance to hear the good news of Jesus, shared with them lovingly.
