Please help us raise £2500 for Dementia UK
2022 is a big year for us both. We'll turn 50 in August, and we've challenged ourselves to walk 2500 miles between us during the year (that's 50x50).
To boost our efforts we're walking The MINSTER Way - a 50 mile path linking the magnificent Minsters of Beverley and York - in our birthday week.
Please would you sponsor us?
Our stories
We've chosen to support Dementia UK as it's an important cause for us both.
Rachel: "My Dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in September 2020. It's a complex condition which differs significantly from other forms of dementia and shares characteristics with Parkinson's Disease. Thanks to Dementia UK, my parents have received specialist support from an Admiral Nurse trained in Lewy Body Dementia. Admiral Nurses offer specialist care to people with dementia and their families. Dementia UK aim to have 500 Admiral Nurses across the UK by 2025 and we're keen to help them achieve that goal."
Celia: "My Mum died in June 2015. She'd been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia four years earlier. Those last years were sad and difficult, dealing with constant challenges from sorting care to learning how to relate differently to her. What you want at a time like that is somewhere to turn with all your questions, an instant source of help, both practical and emotional. Dementia UK offers this through their Admiral Nurse advice line. I'd love our fundraising to raise awareness of this service."
You can call the Helpline for free on 0800 888 6678, send an email to helpline@dementiauk.org or fill in this form to speak to a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse.
