Story
I didn’t learn my lesson from the GNR and am running another half marathon in October with my bosses and aunty. In December 2016, my aunty was diagnosed with MND, and lost her battle with the disease on 10th August 2018. It is a terminal illness when the nerves stop functioning properly, causing muscles to weaken and waste. It is unpredictable, with life expectancy of 2-5 years post diagnosis. Currently in the UK, 5000 people are affected with this illness at any one time. It is extremely difficult illness to live with, with living expenses of an extra twelve thousand pounds a year, prior to loss of income. The Motor Neurone Disease association helps fund research and gives help in terms of financial and emotional support. My family has been fighting this together, so feels fitting that for this half marathon, I am raising funds for my brave aunt. Any funds will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!
