Those who know me will know I love a challenge!  I decided this year to try my luck with the ballot for the Prudential Ride London 100 mile bike ride and got through.

I knew that I'd take this opportunity to try to raise as much as I can for charity, but was undecided about which of the many worthy causes to support, until I read a post that popped up on my facebook feed and then I knew without doubt which cause to support.

A friend of friends, Mark, who I've met from time to time and stayed in touch with through facebook was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer last year but things have now spread further and his friends have got together to raise money for treatment unavailable on the NHS.  You can read more about his story here https://www.youcaring.com/markharvey-828158 

The response has been overwhelming with over £2,000 raised in a matter of hours to pay for his first course of treatment and donations still flooding in for extra treatment and financial support when his family need it most.

This got me thinking of another friend, Rhys, who sadly lost his own battle with bowel cancer 8 1/2 years ago, aged 35, leaving behind a wife and two young children.

And for me, the decision was made to support this cause over any of the others that would also be so worthy of any money you choose to donate.  

Lets get Bowel Cancer UK as much money as we can so that they can continue their work educating the professionals and the public on spotting the signs of bowel cancer and campaigning for early diagnosis, and continue their all important research.
