BUPA Great North Run 2013 · 15 September 2013 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page guys!

I originally decided to enter the Great North Run (the very famous half marathon) as a personal challenge. I used to be fairly overweight:

(Yes, I did used to eat whole tubes of Pringles at a time, it's true)

And I literally never want to look like this again. So I decided to give it a go and apply to do the run, to reach my physical peak.

Then when I got in, I chose a charity. And then everything changed. I chose the Alzheimer's Society because my Grandma has started to lose her memory. She used to be the sharpest woman, always working, driving and enjoying herself. Now she finds everyday a struggle.

I want to raise money for people like my Grandma and others who have lost more memory, and for families who feel like they have lost members even if they are still with us. Hopefully the Society will find new ways to cope and new ways to make dementia sufferers' lives easier and happier.

So I go in to this run full of love for the people who have a loved one who is slipping away from them and for the people who care for them everyday. And most of all with all the love in the world for my Grandma. x
