Everyday 8,000 children die, and 2 billion people suffer from preventable illness because their diets lack basic nutrients. Our technology and business model lets the small mills that feed the most malnourished people add lifesaving nutrients to maize flour, an East African staple. Let's end hunger!

Story

When I was looking for a charity that is clearly achieving something meaningful and effective I discovered the story of Felix Brooks-Church, who years ago arrived in Sanku, a small village in Nepal, and created a machine that would change millions of lives. His work in development had shown him that the nutrition a child receives in the first thousand days of its life is crucial for determining its future. He had witnessed the tragedy of thousands of premature deaths from preventable diseases. He had also observed that those who survived often had stunted growth and impaired mental development.

His ingenious solution to this problem was to create a device that would add B12, folic acid, zinc and iron to the flour that the people in small villages used to bake bread and other staples of their diet. The machine he created is called a 'dosifier'. He was so determined for it to work that at the start - when he had no resources - he physically hauled it in a box across East Africa until the then president of Tanzania gave him a contract. Now it has been proven to be so successful in saving lives and creating better futures that this year alone the charity has received public backing from Rolex and Mackenzie Scott.

Next week I will be walking along the Regent's Canal Tow Path. I need a little over £150 to reach £1K for Project Healthy Children in one year. If you could sponsor me to help save lives - one US dollar a year is how little it takes – I would be very grateful.
