Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My amazing, gorgeous husband and best friend John died in September 2017 from an advanced and aggressive testicular cancer at the age of 35.. He had a gruelling course of chemotherapy and surgery over the previous year but sadly he died at the Christie very suddenly.
The Christie were absolutely phenomenal. John always felt safe, cared for and every time I had to leave him there I always knew that he would get the very best that could be offered. The way I choose to look at it is that the Christie gave us an extra year of life together and for that I can never repay them.
The Christie doesn’t just treat residents of Manchester. During our time there we met some truly inspirational patients from across the UK. Their research has worldwide significance and they are internationally renowned for the work they do.
I’m doing the great north swim in Windermere because it was the last place that John and I went on holiday before his diagnosis. He loved it there and I’ve got some great memories of the place so it felt right to make another one.
I decided to do the mile course entirely in butterfly because, well, why not. I also enjoy the fact that it’s so hardcore it gives me free reign to eat cake to my hearts content. Which I am.
Anyway thank you so much for looking at my page and I really hope this inspires you to donate to me or to any other cause that tugs at your heartstrings. Charity is such an important part of our vital services.
John if you’re listening, this one’s for you pickle. I love you very much xxx
