Rachel's Women V Cancer - RIDE THE NIGHT page

Women V Cancer - RIDE THE NIGHT · 31 May 2014 ·
At the start of this year I made the decision to loose some weight and after the initial success I decided I needed to add exercise to help me loose some more. At the same time Nigel, my husband, had a double knee operation and was told that cycling would be a good exercise to aid his recovery so we rescued our bicycles from amongst the cobwebs in the shed and set about cycling at weekends. Gradually we increased our distances and added more hills to our routes and by the end of the summer we were cycling up to 30 miles.
When I first saw the Woman v Cancer RIDE THE NIGHT challenge advertised it appealled to me instantly. It seemed a natural progression for my cycling whilst raising money for some worthy charities. In recent years I have seen many people who have battled with cancer some successfully, some currently going through treatment and others who have succumbed to this awful disease, most recently my sister Margaret who sadly passed away in September 2013.
Please sponsor me on this bike ride, donations are passed to these 3 charites
Breast Cancer Care - providing expert information and skilled emotional and practical support, informed by their clinical expertise and understanding of people’s experience.
Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust - the only UK charity dedicated to women affected by cervical abnormalities and cervical cancer.
Ovarian Cancer Action - is dedicated to improving women’s chances of survival by funding research at the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre; raising awareness of the disease; and giving a voice to women affected by it.
