We raise awareness and funds to combat the causes of homelessness

Story

Many of us have found or renewed our love for running during the lockdown, however I find I sometimes lack the motivation to get out, therefore I have decided to challenge myself to run 100km through July and I'm asking you all to sponsor me so we can raise some money for a good cause.

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be homeless during a pandemic? Sleeping on the streets with a deadly virus potentially all around you? Not having the comfort of being locked in your warm, safe, clean house?

The Fine & Country Foundation are dedicated to battling the causes of homelessness and aiding those who are affected by it. I would like to try and raise £300, many of you will know that homelessness is very prevalent in Cambridge & your donations will go to local homeless charities Jimmy’s & WinterComfort.

About the charity

The Fine & Country Foundation has been created to help combat one of the largest social issues in the UK – homelessness. Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is: people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question: why did they became homeless in the first place? The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
