Rachel's Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Yorkshire Three Peaks · 9 September 2017
I set myself this challenge for a couple of reasons, firstly I'm just wanting to improve my fitness and wanted a big goal to work towards, secondly I wanted to mark in some way the passing of my father earlier this year.
I learned many things from my Dad, but one of the biggest things he taught me was to have a big appreciation for the natural world around me. He would spend hours out in the garden, or walking in the woods, or out in the park with me and we would just take in the beauty of the world around us, then later on we would snuggle up on the sofa and watch wildlife documentaries together. I thank my father for my love of walking and nature which bring me great joy.
I decided to dedicate my efforts in this challenge to raising funds for a wildlife charity. I have chosen the Bat Conservation Trust as a result of my experiences a couple of weeks ago when one of their volunteers gave me expert advice and support in rescuing an injured bat. The Bat Conservation Trust do really valuable work in ensuring that this protected species continues to thrive.
