Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.Zach, our precious son was born early at 27weeks at the Liverpool Women's Hospital following an extremely difficult pregnancy. He has diagnosed at the Fetal Medicine Unit with an extremely rare condition called CHAOS- a blockage of his airways. This only gave him a 10% chance of surviving the ground breaking Exit procedure c- section that the medics had to perform to try to save him that night.Survive he did, the amazing team from LWH and Alderhey performed the operation, a first for the hospital and this allowed us to spend an amazing although very worrying 3 weeks on the neonatal unit with Zach.Zach lost his battle on 17 th January 2012, we were with him...Words cannot express our grief and sadness at losing Zach.... But also nor can they express our eternal gratitude to the hospital for saving Zach, treating him and looking after Carl and myself so well. From the consultants, doctors, nurses, midwives to the catering staff on the wards, everyone helped and supported us. We will never forget....The Kitty Appeal is so close to our hearts an we will continue to raise money for Kitty- for the Fetal Medicine Unit, who do such an amazing job ,diagnosing many problems in unborn babies and assisting and treating women with difficult pregnancies and for the Neonatal Unit, where so many babies spend the first fragile days, weeks and often months of their lives. Zach was treated with care and respect as were we and we are indebted to LWH . We also want to help other babies and parents as essential equipment, parent accommodation and research into such rare conditions as Zach's is necessary, needed and on-going.Therefore this year I have set myself                              'The'Triple Challenge'- Liverpool Half Marathon     Sunday 29th March- Snowdon Zip wire.           May tbcGuinness world record attempt Skydive.   June 20th Devon.   333 people in 24hrs!'Please support me, however much you can donate will be greatly appreciated in supporting me in these challenges, remembering our precious son Zach and obviously benefiting thousands of babies and parents at LWH.Many, many thanks Rachel xxxThankyou to our good friend Sue Beaumont Staite who is also running the Liverpool Half Marathon with me and helping to support Kitty, once again!!!!
