Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I have now cut off my hair (see photo for proof!)
On the day I had it cut (Wed 18th March), my generous friends had donated £860 to the Alzheimer's Research Trust. I think that's pretty impressive of you all. Only cutting off 8.6 inches of hair in return seemed a bit stingy of me, so I had about 15 inches cut off in the end. At an average hair-growth speed of 4 inches a year, it will be nearly 4 years before you see me with the same length of hair as I had on Monday.
I contemplated going shorter than this because I was expecting to go to China for work, and I thought that would give my hair plenty of time to grow again so I could tie it back for dancing. As it happens, going to China has fallen through. Conveniently my current hair cut is just about long enough to tie back!
For those who live around Cambridge and are interested, my hair was cut by Scruffs hairdressers on Mill Road, who made the whole experience actually enjoyable, and I'm pleased with the result!
The ponytail has been sent to Lock of Love, who make wigs for children who suffer from long-term hair loss.
This webpage will be accepting donations for a while longer - so if you want to, you can still donate! I am hoping to reach £1000 (excluding gift aid). Obviously your donation will no longer affect how short I cut my hair, but I'm sure the Alzheimer's Research Trust will be very grateful to receive your donation.
Thank you once again to everyone who has sponsored me!
Love Rachel x
