In 2019 we were training for the London Marathon together, three years later we are training to cycle 100 miles together, but this time we decided to fundraise for the same charity, The Passage.
The Passage provides resources which encourage, inspire and challenge people who are homeless to transform their lives. They have now just launched their new three year strategy: ‘No Going Back.’ The Passage believes there are many elements that are key to ending a person’s homelessness. Their new strategy will see them expanding their services to help achieve their vision of a society where street homelessness no longer exists and everyone has a place to call home.
Rachel V: I’ve worked at The Passage for 2 and a half years. Every day I see the incredible work that we do to support those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Through an extremely challenging couple of years it was so inspiring how quickly The Passage adapted their services and set up an emergency food hub, preparing and delivering 350 hot meals daily for people self-isolating in temporary accommodation. The hub was resourced by volunteers working seven days a week and supplied over 94,000 meals.
Rachel R: Since working with 18-25 year olds under the care of City of Westminster Local Authority, I have had first hand experience of working alongside The Passage. The Passage have on several occasions accommodated my young people who are either at risk of homelessness or being released from prison and in need of emergency accommodation.
Being able to participate in this challenge and fundraise for something we both feel passionate towards is both exciting and rewarding. We hope that you will be kind enough to donate and together we can tackle street homelessness.
