Emergency response to the catastrophic explosion on the port in Beirut.

Story

On August 4th 2020, an explosion went off in Beirut's port that could be heard accross the entire country and beyond. Over 100 people died instantly, 4000 were seriously injured and 300,000 people have been left homeless. The impact of the blast was equivalent to around a 10th of the devastation of Hiroshima. Most of my family mebers who live there have had their homes affected, one of whom has lost his left eye as a result of the blast.

For a country which was already in economic and political disarray, it is now truly broken. It's main hospital was destroyed in the explosion and the other is completely overrun. The government have resigned, leaving Lebanon stateless.

It is no secret that much of the Western World views the Middle East as a lost cause and the explosion as just another link on the long chain of self-anihilation. In fact, what finally pushed me towards this cause was overhearing the sentimments of some who believe that the people of Lebanon deserved this.

We must do all we can to help it's innocent people that have become victim to this monstrous tragedy.Human Relief Foundation have partners on the ground ready to help. Donations will be used to support victims of the blast with food, medical aid and rebuilding homes. Please give all you can.
