Your local NHS D&G Charity raises funds to make a real difference to patient care in our hospitals and community. With your help, we are able to help give all of our patients, their families and carers and staff the support when they need it the most.

Story

This is our 3rd year of competing in the Etape Caledonia. In the last 2 years we have raised over 37,000 pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year we are rasing money for the Alexandria Unit at Dumfries Hospital where Macmillan Nurses help cancer patients.Dumfries Hospital is being rebuilt over the next few years and we hope to raise enough money over that period to make a difference to the facilities Macmillan is able to offer in the Alexandria Unit.

We started our participation in this annual event after our brother-in-law David died at 57 of Colon cancer in 2009 , then our mother died in 2010 from lung cancer. We all know someone who is battling cancer and we ride again this year in their support , particularly Anita Crane who's husband Rob is one of our Chicago based Clydesdales and Helene Manganiello sister of one of our corporate supporters Cathy Hagle.

Sadly , Helene passed away last weekend , so we ride in her memory.
