70 Wild Miles · 5 June 2010
RESULTS:
So the event is over and here are the results.......DNF did finish and came 64th out of 77 (with two real DNF's) and Mike came 9th, having finished 3rd in the kayak. It was a great day and for a rundown of the times etc please go to the 70 wild miles webpage. Remember, it is now a year before the next triathlon and we look forward to cheering some of you on as participants!!!
So what is the 70 wild miles? Well it's a mammoth 47 mile (75km) cycle starting in the White Corries car park, followed by a 10 mile (16km) canoe section along Loch Etives tidal waters and to finish its a 13 mile (22km) run from Loch Etive to Glen Etive.
So who are these mad men and women embarking on this adventure and why is there a team and solo event? Well they are all Diagnostic Radiographers working in Edinburghs Royal Infirmary. The team of Jo, Kim and Pete (aka DNF or Did Not Finish) are splitting the event with Pete on his bike and the girls both attacking the canoe and running sections. Mike is our solo adventurer with his mind set on completing all three challenges, one after another, by himself. The mix means that you can choose if you are team DNF or team Mike and we would love you to state your allegiance/bet as to who will be quickest overall. Your comments will keep us going........as will the thought of a hot bath!!!
These courageous madfolk don't ask for much. They aren't wanting help training, they don't want you to rub their feet better, all they ask is for your dosh! So where does the cash go? The triathalon raises money for CLIC Sargent (registered scottish charity number: SC039857). CLIC Sargent is dedicated to caring for children with cancer. They provide; clinical care professionals: a child cancer helpline: family care & support: financial support: play specialists: research. They are there in times of need and for anyone who wishes to know more please visit: http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Home
