We are driving research into bone health to create a future without osteoporosis

Story

The Staff of the Western Isles Radiology department are raising money for 2 Charities; the Crossroads Lewis (a local charity who provide support to carers, preventing carers from becoming ill through exhaustion by giving them a break while providing the care they normally give – including palliative cases.). And the Royal Osteoporosis Society, (provide education in bone health and strive for a cure for Osteoporosis).

The aim is for each member of the department to walk the equivalent of a 26 mile marathon in our lunch hours wearing a lead apron, over the course of a month. This equates to 1408 lengths of the x-ray corridor each. Lead aprons weigh approximately 8 kilograms but can vary with size.

Thank You from Western Isles Radiology!

(Radiographers/ Sonographers/Admin staff taking part includes; Jane, Karen, Ciara, Jen, Jennifer, Riona, Anna, Marie, Gemma, Christina, Shuna, Mike, Steve and Sarah)
