Story
Hi,
My name is Corporal Oliver Jinks and I am currently serving in Her Majesty’s Royal Air Force (RAF) as a Royal Air Force Policeman.
On the 21st October 2020, I lost my Grandfather to Pancreatic Cancer, after he had courageously fought a long and painful battle with the illness.
I was determined not to let my Grandfather pass on in vain, so I decided to set up an event and try to raise funding towards defeating Cancer.
For the event, I have arranged for a team of 6 RAF Police (including myself) to attempt to bench press the combined weight of the 9 RAF Red Arrows Jets (32.65 tons) in the shortest time possible. This will be a difficult yet achievable challenge, which will be completed on the 10th of December 2020.
I wanted to connect my event to the RAF as 2020 is the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which saw our tiny nation defeat the bigger fast approaching enemy. I want to pay homage to those heroes and contribute in the fight against the invisible enemies (illnesses) we have to live with every single day.
Throughout this unprecedented time, charities have been overshadowed and hit hard by COVID-19. I want to show that these charities have not been forgotten and are still completing life saving work on a daily basis!
I am aware that completing this challenge will not bring back my Grandfather. However, my event has been set up to fund research to save our future family members and defeat Cancer. I understand that I can’t build Rome in one day. I just want you to join me in laying down some bricks.
To achieve this we need to work together and raise as much money as we can so please like, share, post, recommend and most of all donate!
Thank you very much for your time and stay safe!
Oliver Jinks
