The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
Charitable fundraising efforts have been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, prisoner rights, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
Because of this, myself and my partner, Meg, will be cycling 260 Miles over the next month to raise money for the Prison Reform Trust. PRT offers advice and information to thousands of people every year: prisoners, their families, prison and probation staff, the legal profession, students, academics and interested members of the public. They work towards improving community punishment and restorative forms of justice, as opposed to prison reform (though prison abolition is something we should be fighting for more broadly).
I know how to ride a bike, so cycling 260 Miles will be a challenge while also acting as cycling coach and first-aid responder to Meg (who is gonna zoom along with me!!).
I shall also be Producing 26 songs About prison reform to commemorate every mile I succeed in completing, which will very gladly Irritate my housemates & Partner (I'll also upload them to Facebook).
Please sponsor us and help support Prison Reform Trust continue with their vital work helping a community which is particularly at risk from COVID-19.
Big love xoxo
