Story

20th June 2017 will mark 3 years since Arthur was born. To help us keep positive throughout the difficult month of June (whilst also getting fit and raising some money for a good cause) Llyr and I have set ourselves a challenge each...

I will be aiming to run 3 miles each day in June - one mile for every year we have been missing Arthur.

Llyr is going to cycle a total of 1,095km in June. Which is one km for each day since we lost Arthur - or 684 miles.  He hasn't decided yet whether to do 22.8miles a day or go for a long, 170+ mile ride each week!! (Those of you that follow him on Strava will soon find out!)

Last year donations for Arthur's birthday were used to buy fabulous books (see below) for siblings born after the loss of a baby - via the Rainbow Clinic.  This year we would like to raise more money to help fund 'baby essentials' for families accessing the invaluable support of the Rainbow Clinic 🌈

For many parents facing a subsequent pregnancy, after the loss of a baby before or after birth, the thought of buying anything is too painful or hard.  With additional funds the Rainbow Clinic team are able to reduce this area of anxiety by keeping a stock of newborn essentials (such as nappies, first outfits,  bibs, wipes, babygrows, vests, hats and blankets) to be used in the hospital when baby is born.

If you would prefer to donate an item from the list above (rather than money online) we will be collecting things to take to the clinic at the end of June - any new items for a newborn are greatly appreciated and make a hugeness difference to families at a very difficult time.

Thank you!!!

The 20th June 2016 would have been our beautiful son Arthur's 2nd birthday.  To mark the occasion Llyr and I will be collecting copies of the 'Andrew's Rainbow' book to donate to the Rainbow Clinic at St Mary's, Manchester.

The incredible team at the Rainbow Clinic recently supported us through our pregnancy with Arthur's little brother, who arrived safely in November, thanks to their care. They are a dedicated team for families pregnant following a stillbirth. You can read more about their exceptional work here... https://www.tommys.org/rainbow-clinic

'Andrew's Rainbow' is a fabulous picture book, written specifically to help parents explain to their child, born after a stillbirth or pregnancy loss, about the sibling they will never meet. It is a wonderful resource and is published by the Scottish Cot Death Trust, so all the proceeds are used to help reduce cot death. And they are only £4 each with free postage!!

If you would like to support you can either:

Order your own copy on the link below, and pass it on to us when it arrives.  We will then take any copies we have to the Clinic at the end of June.

Or make a donation via Justgiving and the money will be used by the team at the clinic to purchase the books directly.

They will then be able to further support families by providing a copy of the book to use at home with their children.

Coping with a pregnancy, subsequent to a loss, is a traumatic and challenging time for many families. There are very mixed emotions for them, when they are fortunate enough to be able to finally take a baby home with them. It can be very hard for parents to know how to talk to that child about the sibling they will never meet. These books are an engaging and child friendly way of making those conversations less daunting.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving and they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate; saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
