Some runners wear capes! · 25 August 2020

The Forum believes that where barriers exist, there is inequality! The diversity within the LGBT community enriches all aspects of life and should be encouraged and promoted. This is why the York LGBT Forum strives to improve the social inclusion of LGBT people in the area. The Forum actively promotes awareness and understanding of LGBT people’s needs to enable full participation in society and works with many others to reduce the fear of crime and bullying, particularly in schools, the workplace and in later life. It also encourages greater participation in the prevention and detection of homophobic, transphobic and biphobic discrimination. We aim to improve people’s wellbeing and sense of community.

Story

Thank you for reading.  I will make this short.  Over the past couple of years, I have been attending York LGBT Forum's Queer Arts, and York's only LGBT choir.  I have not been in anything like this before, would never have met the people I have and I am extremely grateful to all the organisers and supporters.  We have released a single, kept rehearsing through the COVID-19 pandemic (on Zoom of course) and the choir is ready to progress to new goals and achievements!

I want to raise money to support the facilitators, lovely choir members and hopefully produce a brand new single in the near future!

Please do donate anything you can and I will really try to get below the 5 min / km mark!
