Resolution Run Leicester 2019 · 10 March 2019 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

My family’s life was turned upside down just over three years ago, when my husband had a stroke. He suffered multiple infarcts in three parts of his brain, leaving him with life-changing difficulties.

Life as we knew it will never be the same again. We have learned to live with our new reality and to laugh through our tears, but it hasn’t been an easy journey.

Luckily for me, I have had my Mum, my sons, my lovely friends, Sarah and Jan, several amazing work colleagues and some relatives to help me along the way. They have collectively given me the courage to face the challenges that we are faced with. I have also met some very kind people who have helped me by offering a listening ear and their time when I have needed it the most.

For the past two years, my younger son, Akash,  and I have been thinking of ways to support other families who are going through a similar situation. We have thought of participating in the Resolution Run many a time, but we just haven’t got around to doing so. This year, we knew it was high time we actually made more of an effort to make a real difference.

My friends Sarah and Jan have agreed to give up their time to support us in our endeavour to raise some much-needed money for a great cause.

Please help us in our efforts to raise £350 to support stroke patients/survivors and their families.
