Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As Kate's first anniversary was approaching I was trying to think of a way that something positive could come out of it. I know she felt very strongly that her cancer shouldn't have been in vain, and I don't think her death should be either. I played around with a few ideas; tea party, cake sale, but I've settled on this run. Kate taught us to push ourselves, to be the best version of ourselves that we can be, and to set goals and reach them. I have never been a runner, never been an exerciser really, but I've always admired those that do. To me, it is something that takes discipline, dedication, and a strong mind. This is where the idea of me running a 10k began. I set out on my first run on Wednesday 29th January, one year to the day Kate left this world, and I've been training since. You can follow my journey on a blog I am keeping; http://rainbowsandstarsrunning.wordpress.com/ which I hope will keep my mind on track even when my body may not be!
Kate received amazing care at the hospice, it was very important to her and made the darkest of days a little lighter. I hope to raise as much as possible towards continuing the level of care they provide so that more families who find themselves in heart breaking situations like that of Kate's can take some comfort in knowing people care and knowing the hospice will do all it can to help. Please donate whatever you can. Thank you x
