They say we will all be affected by cancer at some stage in our lives, and it was with great sadness that our Mum died of ovarian cancer 9 years ago, at just 54 years old.  This tragic loss gave us a real determination to make a difference to the lives of thousands of other women and their families who are unfortunate enough to be affected by these awful diseases and we pledged to raise £30,000 in her memory. 

 

To date we have raised £18k, and this year, to try and achieve our target to raise a further £12k, we are proud to be a part of a group of women who in November 2011 will cycle through Kenya to raise vital funding for Ovarian Cancer Action; Breast Cancer Care; and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.

 

As well as the blood, sweat and tears that will be endured on our ride, we also have a huge challenge ahead to maximise our charity pot and are therefore organising a number of fundraiser events:

 

*  27th November 2010 - A Christmas Coffee Morning - thanks to all those that supported us and got us off the starting line with £950!

*  12th March 2011 - A Sponsored 99 Mile Cycle Challenge from Putney Bridge to Oxford with the support of a fantastic group of people including: Tim & Fran Rainey; Tom & David Vernon; Ian, Katy & Rebecca Smith; Hayden Ballard; Chris Roberts; Jim Pritchard; Tim Stevenson, Chris Shepherd; Nick Alston; Paul McGuinness; Sarah Falkingham; and Andre Salord - What a day of highs and lows! A fantastic team effort, thanks all S&Hxx 

*  4th June 2011 - A charity dinner dance in memory of Mum - Thank you so much to all who attended and made it a very special night :o) Cheers all S&Hxx

 *  6th November 2011 - An extraordinary cycling adventure through the Rift Valley in Kenya  - WE DID IT!!!!
