UgandAid offers hope to vulnerable Ugandan youngsters by sponsoring their vocational training at Nile Vocational Institute, leading to employment and self sufficiency. A lifetime opportunity for hundreds of students and their extended families, enabling them to become valuable citizens of Uganda.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is for a rainwater harvesting project in Uganda at the Nile Vocational institute. The Nile vocational institute was founded in 1987 in Njeru to give opportunities to the most needy, especially orphans. It provides good skills training in a sound, loving environment where youngsters are prepared practically, socially and emotionally for adult life.

Young people, normally aged 14-20, attend a 2 or 3 year residential course.

Basic skills include maths , English and business skills. Courses include a four month placement in commerce or industry. Internal and recognised external exams are taken in the final year.

Ugandaid are just finishing fundraising for a refurbishment of the domestic technology building at NVI which houses textiles and tailoring, catering and early years teaching departments, along with the college library. However, they are in need of a rainwater collection and storage system, utilising natural resources and reducing the high cost of water supply -  which is where your money will be going to.

As part of fundraising we will be holding several events however, even if you just feel like donating that will be great also!

Are you able to help with a donation?   Perhaps the amount saved by not going out for dinner during lockdown, a missed trip to the cinema, a missed haircut or cost of travelling to work if Covid-19 has brought your workplace into your home?

If we are unable to reach the target the money raised will still go towards rainwater harvesting at NVI. However, if we manage to exceed our target, all monies will be used for rainwater harvesting and the Domestic Technology Department at NVI.
