Indian Himalaya trek to raise awareness of epilepsy · 15 March 2024

Shropshire Epilepsy Support is a registered charity who provides essential support to all those affected by epilepsy (including family/carers). We run many services, raise vital awareness & help to educate people/businesses/schools about the condition, in order to improve lives & make a change.

Story

Despite struggling from uncontrolled epilepsy since 10 yrs old, I am taking on this 12 day challenge, trekking through the Indian Himalayas, to raise awareness of epilepsy.

I want to dispel many of the myths & stigmas surrounding the condition & inspire others with a disability, to achieve something that they thought was impossible.

Sadly, over the last year, my seizures and memory loss have massively worsened and I'm now having over 300 seizures in 48 hours. This will make the trek extremely challenging & risky for me. However I’m determined & passionate about raising awareness of epilepsy, so I shall be taking along Steve (a very kind & caring friend) who will help me throughout and act as my ‘carer’ when times are tough & if/ when I need help with my seizures, VNS and memory loss.

All money raised is very greatly received and will go towards Shropshire Epilepsy Support (a not for profit charity) so that they can continue to provide free support & free services to those affected by epilepsy in the county.

Thanks
