Update as at 25 May 2011.

I have now successfully completed the Walk. I'm a bit tired and have a couple of blisters but otherwise I'm fine. The weather was very kind on the Walk......

I will be walking The South Downs Way from 16 May to 22 May 2011. Allowing for walking to and from bed & breakfasts off the official route this is a walk of around 124 miles. I'll be travelling down to Eastbourne on 16 May and returning from Winchester on 22 May. Therefore 124 miles will be walked in 5 full days and 2 part days. The route is not flat and I'll be carrying a backpack - no use of couriers.... My fitness levels could (and should) be higher.

Following the completion of The Coast To Coast (last autumn) and The Essex Way (in March 2011) this is my final long distance walk - well, I haven't got anything else planned for the rest of the year.

My chosen charity - it's the Golden Anniversary for The Hertfordshire Charity For Deprived Children (registered charity 200327), which was set up 50 years ago (in 1961). The charity supports underpriviledged / disadvantaged children who are most in need in the county of Hertfordshire. The charity has no overheads and hence all donations received will be used to improve the lives of "deprived" children.
