Story

Charities support our society and help us live in a better world. As they face unprecedented challenges, now is the time to support them. During the global coronavirus crisis, many charities are facing financial difficulties and struggling to deliver much needed support to our communities across the UK; and this, coupled with the sad loss of our friend and colleague, Royal Naval Nurse Warrant Officer Liz Richmond in January, has driven members of the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Charity in Liz’s memory. Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. In July 2021, ten members of RCDM, from across all ranks and sServices, will be taking part in the Mighty Hike challenge, a 26-mile Hike across the beautiful Peak District. We will hike a marathon along the beautiful trails of the Peak District from Darley Moor to Bakewell, past the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones and our 10-person team NEEDS your support in raising £2500 for this superb Charity. Please Dig Deep!!! A couple of quid will make the difference for families struggling with cancer. Every penny counts. Thank you for your invaluable support.
