Story

You will know all or one of us taking part in this fundraiser so please spare a couple of minutes to read this story.

Ryedale Special Families is a local charity we have supported for many years, witnessing the phenomenal work they do helping local families who have a son, daughter or relative with special needs.

Many of you will know Fiona’s sister Diana and her 13 year old son Ronnie who are supported on a daily basis by RSF. Recently Ronnie has been hospitalised with pneumonia and Diana could not have coped were it not for their care and hard work.

Anyway on to our fundraiser...... we have done various events to raise money over the years for RSF and having had a short while in rehab following Fiona’s rib-break at her last event, we have decided to gear up for our next challenge and dust off our knee supports, sweat bands and walking boots.

On April 5th we are undertaking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, walking 24 miles in a day including the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire, Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. We have been training Thursday afternoons each week since September and will be including a Saturday training soon with a few more hefty gradients in the mix.

Unexpectedly we have all enjoyed our training as not only are we preparing for the challenge but we seem to be using it as mid-life crisis therapy sessions! We have now booked our accommodation in Horton in Ribblesdale so there’s no turning back.

There is just one more thing to organise and that is where we hope you can help us.

Therapy aside we are doing this to raise as much money for a wonderful local charity. Having raised the most money of all the participants when we completed the Wolds bike ride we would love to better this thanks to our many great family and friends who are willing to help.

Many many thanks on behalf of all the team at RSF for your generosity. We will keep you advised of our progress before and on the day and will report back to you with the grand total.

With our best wishes

Fiona, Jacquie, Yvonne and Zoe xxx
