Story

In loving memory of my Mother, Verna Louise Moran born  September 20th, 1940 and went to heaven August 31st, 2019. She lives on in my heart and continues to inspire me every day as I keep moving forward.

I am so thankful that my family in the UK and in the USA are safe at home. But others aren't so fortunate, so I hope that all of the energy I have put into running every day will do something positive, not only for my own mental health and well being but to help the homeless. My Mother always helped friends, family and members of our church who were homeless by providing shelter to them in our home, so I am doing this to honour her memory and to support my employer Adecco's chosen charity.

In May, 2020 I achieved 50 parkruns in 50 days as part of my daily exercise during lockdown with my dog, Alfie, which I am so proud of & we took this amazing selfie of us together at the finish line when we received our NHS medal same day!  I'm not a fast runner, but I have a big heart and the strong desire to keep going. My next target was to achieve 100 park runs in 100 days which I achieved 9th of July, 2020 and I kept going, including several half-marathons, a 22 mile training run along the Preston Guild Wheel, London Marathon, the 40th race on 4th of October and Manchester Marathon (in your own time) on 28th of October, to celebrate my 53rd birthday.

I am now aiming to run every day for a year, finishing end of March, 2021. So far I have taken part in several challenges including Lakeland 50, where I ran 50 miles in a week, Lands End to John O'Groats where I ran and walked 784 miles from July to November 2020, 12 Days of Christmas Running (twice, so 24 days!) My goal was to raise £1000 by Christmas, and thanks to your support, together we raised £1155 via my 2020 fundraising page below!

I've now set up a new fundraising page for 2021 after completing RED January 2021 (my 3rd year taking part for mental health) finishing with a half-marathon on 31st of January and I have been leaving #youarenotalone hearts in my local villages to spread a little bit of lockdown love, which I will continue doing in Feb and March.  I'm also doing 2800 sit-ups in 28 days for Shelter, and I've signed up for London virtual Marathon which takes place in October, so yes I'm going to keep going!

Please will you help me help the homeless by making a donation to this amazing charity?

A home is a fundamental human need and a basic moral right, as vital as education or healthcare. But in Britain today, 4,750 people sleep on the streets on any given night and 90,000 households are stuck in unsuitable temporary accommodation, such as homeless hostels. We're fundraising for Shelter to help get people who have been affected by homelessness back into work.Thank you very much for your support.
